1st Graphic Design Biennale Germany China 2010

In Offenbach the 1st Graphic Design Biennale Germany China 2010 took place. Over 300 posters, 100 books and 1 hour of animation from Chinese and German graphic designers could be compared during the ADC festival week from 10th to 16th of May accompanied by a series of lectures with Chinese design elite at the University of Art Offenbach. The German design scene knows little about the special connection between German and Chinese design. The teaching of Bauhaus has a much more significant importance at Chinese academies than at German art academies.

German designers have only a vague idea about China and fight against their own solid prejudices. The exhibition and the immediate encounter with internationally outstanding designers such as Lue Jingren, Bi Cuefeng, Wang Min, Chen Shaohua, Song Xiewei, Zhang Soujia, Chen Zhengda, Sascha Lobe and Eike Koenig could correct some conceptions of the world sustainably. Those who listened to the subtle and humorous lectures of the Chinese colleagues know that there is more comming up from China.
