The universal networking of computer workstations places completely new demands on the form systems of industrial and service companies. Two opportunities lie in the development of a digital form system: the optimization of communication processes can cut costs.

On the other hand, system design raises standards in corporate culture. Issue 3 of »design by doing« documented the digital form system for the 3,000 PC workstations of the Berlin power utility Bewag. The form system of Gebau AG in Düsseldorf, installed as early as 1991, was also illustrated. (©1996)
